My cousins (and brother) have the cutest kids I've ever seen. I'm not just saying that because I'm related to them, they're honestly a pretty good looking bunch, and they have the personality to match. It was FREEEZING out, but Grace & Owen were pretty awesome despite it all...not to mention I had a lot of help from their pretty awesome Mom too. Note to self: silly dances = laughs = great photos

I have a horrendous habit of munching while I edit, and of course, I edit often. My clothes got too tight a long time ago, something needed to be done...So I've decided to buckle down and rid my cabinets, fridge/freezer and all the other nooks I've hidden "emergency" candy in, of any kind of sweets. What better time for this change than the holiday season?

I'm having a hard time dealing. SO, when I get the urge I just look at this. Sometimes I want to eat my computer.

Serena and I travelled alllll the way down to Staten Island where we were on the hunt for a graveyard...a boat graveyard. What we found was a grasshopper. I'm convinced he/she was a human in its past life. I promise it posed for us, and we didn't even ask it to.

For all of you who know me, you know how I hate getting my picture taken. I do. A lot. BUT, I LOVE this! After hours of driving and searching, we found a small entranceway that led us to the boat graveyard. Too bad it was too far away to get into :( We had fun trying though.

I have some pretty awesome people in my life. I know I've said it before, and I'll probably say it thousands of more times, so get used to it, because it's true. Let's take Hobie. H bomb, H-Deezy, or my fave, H to the O.B. Him and his spectacular wife Nina invited me to accompany them to the DJ Expo this past August. The night before I was in Pittsfield, MA, my phone broke and my mind was fuzzy from excitement, and I had no idea where they were staying or what time to meet them. I felt like everything in the world was telling me not to go, yet there was a strong urge telling me that I had to. Couldn't explain it, just had to go. So we drove home, I got ready and I hopped in the car and headed for the Shore with only a hope that I'd somehow find them. After HOURS of waiting and searching I finally did, and the next few days were some of the best I'd ever had :)

I'm practicing hard on these silhouette pictures. I'm determined to master them. The part I love most about this portrait of Barry, is that it makes you look at for a minute. It's not your average picture, you have to really stare at it to see the details, such as the drumsticks in his hands.

I was going for the silhouette as well, but I like the fact that his tuning pegs are lighter and in focus. And that profile! Love it. That window was an asbolute nightmare for me the first time, but I was able to make the best of it. I still have some practice to do so keep a lookout for those silhouette pictures, they're coming!

As I mentioned in my first post, my Grandpa recently passed. I failed to mention that he passed a day before my 24th birthday. So, I've had better birthdays...The day was a little somber when unexpectedly the doorbell rang. Puffy eyed, red faced with tears dried up on my cheeks, I felt in no mood to be seen by anyone so I asked Adam to answer the door. He called up to me and insisted I get it. When I answered the door, a nice man holding a beautiful vase filled with lilies met me with a much needed smile. I immediately thought they were sympathy flowers being that Grandpa died, and that they were lilies. To my surprise and joy they were for me! Thanks Laur! LOVE them! And I don't know who you think I am but I think I might die if I actually attempt to drink out of that over sized Margarita vase/glass. But, I'm sure going to try, as long as I can sub the Margarita for Beer ;-)

My dear friend Kristen recently took a very exciting step to venture out to San Diego, California, with her lovely man I might add :-) Prior to her leaving, in searching of a career in Graphic design, she approached me and asked if I'd photograph her work for her portfolio. AB-SO-LUTELY! I couldn't have felt more honored that she'd asked me to be apart of something to crucial. Excited just wasn't the word to describe the feeling. I immediately threw out the idea of placing her work in front of a black backdrop and decided to implement them into real life situations. It needed something more than that, and it certainly deserved something more than that. Thankfully, she gave me complete artist freedom. The feeling was like paradise to me, and I've gotten addicted to the feeling. So this is what I have to say to you San Diego...

Dear San Diego:

Kristen Farrell is one of the most pleasurable, creative people I've had the fortune of having in my life. Knowing her as a person, as well as an artist I have the utmost respect for her as well as her talent. Her intuitive nature is able to capture and create what you may not be able to articulate. Her ideas are novel and innovative, and she's patient, eager and goddam witty!

I found solace in her presence, as she was able to make me laugh after an extrememly stressful and/or discouraging day. She helped me to channel those emotions in art. That advice is invaluable to me. It'd be a downright foolish decision not to work with her.

Death Of a Giant

I've been putting off this blog thing for a while now...I'm pretty sure it's been months. I don't know what exactly I was afraid of, if anything but I've logged in, stared at it, got frustrated with it, snarled at it, and ran away from it...And it's been haunting me. I've always thought it was pretty self centered to write about yourself, espcially out into the dark abyss of cyberspace. Really, who's going to read it and who the hell is going to care? I never got it. However, I read other people's all the time and love it. Sometimes they're crappy, unexciting and just a waste of time, but then you get those who are inspiring. And lorddddddd knows sometimes I need a little inspiration. I think we all do. I read things, see things, hear different things, perpectives and it sparks a thought, an idea. A little creativity is like gold to me. Now I think I'm going to stop running away and start lettin' loose. Watch out now, 'cause I've got this. ;-)

Grandpa Joe recently passed, or as my neice Taryn refers to him, "GGPa" - that stands for Great GrandPa just in case you couldn't figure it out. It started for me back in August after the sudden passing of my Grandma, that I realized I hadn't had many pictures of, or with my Grandparents. Especially Joe. I suddently went into this frenzy like I had to catch up on the past 24 years of not having anything, in only a few months. He was a pretty intriguing guy. Tall in stature with the presense of a GIANT. He commanded every room, restraunt, church he ever occupied. With my recent passion for photography, I decided he'd be my next subject.

The car accident he'd gotten into, that caused all this disaster, had done quite a bit of damage...mostly to his ego. Although mentally and emotially solid most of the time, physically he wasn't himself. That you could see enraged him. It was frustrating and embarassed him that he had to depend on his family for help. Still, he hung out. He faught pretty hard. I wouldn't have expected anything less.
